The staff was real nice and the room was large and very clean. It was a quick stay so not much else to say. I'd stay there again and I would recommend it to others.
They could use a new door lock on room 7. It was adequate but it made the whole room seem cheaper.
It had a friendly atmosphere and a friendly place to stay
Good location, clean, value for money.
Mattress was a little tired, TV was elderly.
my wife has always wanted to visit the hotel as she used to pass it everyday when she worked on the busses in the 1960s
no lifts to bedrooms which are on second and third floors - this should be highlighted on website
I had an accident when the chair collapsed (I am not a big person) and in falling pulled a mirror and lamp on top of myself. I reported this to the staff who exchanged the chair but did not ask if I was ok, asked if I was hurt or recored the accident which surprised me. In that instance the customer service was mimimal.
It was an ideal location and price for my trip.
There were a lot of stairs to our bedroom. The breakfast was very poor- barely toasted toast, 1 rasher of bacon and half a tomato for my request of "bacon and tomatoes", poor cereal choice. It was adequate for the price.
We enjoyed touring arround the area and the hotel was in a great location to do so.
No complaints, everything was first class
The attitude of the manager left a lot to be desired. Telling your guests in a premptory fashion that you had to ring 1/2 an hour before to say if you were having breakfast is not acceptable. Rooms and decor were looking extremely tired.
Very comfortable and spacious room. Bathroom very spacious with everything you require but in need of some updating. The bar area was definitely in need of some TLC but comfortable.
Breakfast was a bit sparse and toaster for guests' use was badly needing to be renewed!
The one-member of staff we met was very friendly and helpful. Very quiet so no disturbed sleep.
Has so obviously hit upon hard times: the heating was on only in occupied rooms (so quite cold moving around) and old buildings that are unheated (or only partially) smell a little dank and musty; similarly, lights were sparse; bar closed so no nightcap (this was at 10.30pm); staff were scarce to almost non-existent; rooms were a bit tired with very cheap furnishing; cleaning was not all it could be but acceptable; very small towels (old style bath towel - no bath sheets). Room 7 has a dreadfully difficult lock which needs much fiddling with to ensure room is left locked.
staff would do all to make your stay as comfortable as poss including allowing me to be 2 miniutes before breakfast finished & still made me a cooked one :-)
Staff were very friendly & helpful. Location/setting of hotel was good. Layout of communal eating/sitting areas was good.
I booked 2 double rooms which, on the booking confirmation, were described as "large spacious rooms". They were, in fact, tiny - the smallest hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. We were glad it was only a place to sleep for one night, spending any length of time there would have been unpleasant. The cooked part of the morning breakfast was very meagre. At £70 per night it was definitely not good value for money, and we would not stay there again.
I can only say that when I changed my booking I was charged 20pounds extra as your company said Graig the manager said that was the the cost.i now spoke to the manager and he said he never charges to change dates and knew nothing about it and has now refunded me.the hotel was perfect apart from that Booked.net telling me lies about the manager asking for 20 pounds extra.i will never use Booked.net in the future.
The room was spacious, breakfast was good, good food at restaurant for lunch & dinner, too. Friendly staff.
The bathroom was plain in comparison to the room, the shower did not have a curtain or door, but a non-workable shutter type "device."
